The European Business Association announces the launch of the chemical safety subcommittee

29/ 05/ 2025
The Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association is pleased to announce the launch of the Chemical Safety Subcommittee – a specialised platform for addressing the challenges and identifying solutions related to adapting Ukrainian businesses to European chemical legislation. The Subcommittee will focus on the implementation of key EU regulations: Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) – concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals; Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) – concerning the Classification, Labelling, and Packaging of substances and mixtures. These regulations apply to all companies that manufacture, import, use, or sell chemical substances, mixtures, or biocides in Ukraine. Relevant sectors include: the chemical, metallurgical, and heavy industries; the agricultural sector and food industry; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and household chemicals; construction, trade, and logistics. The Subcommittee will work on: analysing and adapting legislation; advocating for reasonable implementation timelines for technical regulations; supporting dialogue with authorities; safeguarding business interests; implementing provisions related to biocidal products (BPR); and addressing hazardous factors associated with the use and handling of chemicals. Why is this important? Harmonisation with European chemical legislation is essential to maintain the competitiveness of Ukrainian businesses, enable exports to the EU, and reduce environmental and health risks. Interested companies are welcome to join the Chemical Safety Subcommittee. Contact person – Viktoriia Karpets: [email protected]
