Japanese business in Lviv opens new horizons of cooperation

07/ 07/ 2025
🎌 On July 7, Lviv hosted a significant event — a visit by a Japanese business delegation, the first of its scale to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began. The Western Ukrainian Office of the European Business Association was honored to co-organize this mission and facilitate new connections between Ukrainian and Japanese businesses. The first day marked the official opening of Japan Desk Lviv — a municipal support service for Japanese companies entering the Ukrainian market. The launch followed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Lviv City Council and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), symbolizing the beginning of a new phase in Japan–Ukraine economic relations. The delegation included representatives of 10 Japanese companies, along with JETRO, JICA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine. This level of representation signals Japan’s deep interest in strategic cooperation with Ukraine and a readiness to act now. The visit featured B2B meetings and presentations from member companies of the European Business Association. Networking was meaningful and focused — the parties discussed cooperation opportunities, production localization, and technological partnerships. Several directions are already being explored more deeply. We extend our sincere thanks to the companies that represented the Western region during the mission — for their professionalism, forward-thinking approach, and openness to dialogue. We are grateful to the Lviv City Council for their strategic vision and effective coordination. We also thank our Japanese partners — representatives of JETRO, JICA, and the government and diplomatic institutions — for their trust, constructive engagement, and clear focus on economic cooperation. 🤝 We believe this visit marks the beginning of strong, long-term partnerships and creates a foundation for future investment in the Western region of Ukraine.
