Ukrainian farmers to gain timely access to high-quality crop protection products

The European Business Association is pleased to note positive developments in the regulation of pesticides and agrochemicals. Within the reorganised Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, a dedicated department for the registration of pesticides and agrochemicals is currently being established. In addition, a national contact person has been officially appointed under the Rotterdam Convention’s Prior Informed Consent procedure. These steps send an important signal to the market and ensure that high-quality, original crop protection products will be delivered to Ukrainian farmers on time. Recently, a meeting of the Agrochemical Headquarters under the Ministry of Economy took place, during which specific results of business-government cooperation and the latest sector updates were presented, including: A new section titled “State Registration of Pesticides and Agrochemicals” has been launched on the Ministry’s website, along with the publication of the State Register. The section will be regularly updated as new information becomes available. The State Testing Plan for 2025 will be published shortly. Active work is underway on developing application and contract templates, approving payment details for services, and related documentation. A Scientific and Expert Council on State Registration of Pesticides and Agrochemicals will be established in the coming days. Expert commissions of chemists and environmental specialists are being formed in parallel. The procedure for authorising scientific institutions to conduct state testing has been launched. A negotiation position for Ukraine’s EU accession is currently being prepared.
