28/ 06/ 2023
Sayenko Kharenko acted as Ukrainian legal counsel to Citibank and UK Export Finance (UKEF) in connection with a GBP 26.3 million equivalent export loan provided to Ukraine under UKEF’s guarantee. The loan proceeds will be used to finance the reconstruction of six bridges in the Kyiv region as part of the ongoing effort to reopen vital supply routes near Ukraine’s capital. The loan was announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, which aims to bridge the gap between the public and private sectors and facilitate discussions on accelerating and supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts. Partner Anton Korobeynikov commented: “This transaction was driven by enormous dedication from all the parties involved. Its significance extends beyond professional reasons as it signifies unwavering support for Ukraine and its people across on all levels. We are grateful to UKEF, Citibank, the Ministry of Finance, and their respective teams for their instrumental roles in making it happen. We are also grateful to Ashurst for the foreign law support to Citibank and UKEF – collaborating with such a highly skilled team, possessing Ukraine-specific experience in transactions of this nature, has been an absolute pleasure”. Sayenko Kharenko’s team was led by partner Anton Korobeynikov and included senior associate Oles Trachuk and associates Vladyslava Mitsai and Oleksandr Motin.
