Representatives of the EBA Consumer Electronics Committee spoke at a seminar on market surveillance

12/ 12/ 2025
On 11 December, representatives of the Consumer Electronics Committee of the European Business Association took part in a seminar-meeting on the implementation of state policy in the field of market surveillance. The event was held offline and brought together key institutions responsible for monitoring product safety and compliance on the Ukrainian market. Participants included representatives of the central office of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, its regional departments, as well as members of the business community. The EBA representatives delivered presentations to market surveillance inspectors and highlighted three key topics important for the effective control of products on the market: 1. Issues related to the import and sale of prohibited, non-energy-efficient goods In particular, attention was drawn to cases involving the supply of boilers and gas water heaters that do not meet the established energy efficiency requirements, and to the risks arising from their availability on the market. 2. Energy labelling of certain types of electronic and electrical equipment (EEE) after 18 October 2025 The speakers explained the specifics of applying energy labelling to categories such as displays, refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers. They also addressed cases in which different types of energy labels may be legally used, the Ukrainian format, as well as those applied in the EU. 3. Indicating the manufacturer’s name and address in Ukrainian on the EEE The relevance of this issue was underlined due to the absence of preambles in several Ukrainian technical regulations, which are present in analogous EU regulations and specify exceptions regarding the possibility of placing labelling directly on the product or its packaging. We would like to thank the organisers for inviting us to take part in the seminar and look forward to continued effective cooperation with market surveillance authorities.

The EBA representatives delivered presentations to market surveillance inspectors and highlighted three key topics important for the effective control of products on the market:

1. Issues related to the import and sale of prohibited, non-energy-efficient goods

In particular, attention was drawn to cases involving the supply of boilers and gas water heaters that do not meet the established energy efficiency requirements, and to the risks arising from their availability on the market.

2. Energy labelling of certain types of electronic and electrical equipment (EEE) after 18 October 2025

3. Indicating the manufacturer’s name and address in Ukrainian on the EEE

The relevance of this issue was underlined due to the absence of preambles in several Ukrainian technical regulations, which are present in analogous EU regulations and specify exceptions regarding the possibility of placing labelling directly on the product or its packaging.

We would like to thank the organisers for inviting us to take part in the seminar and look forward to continued effective cooperation with market surveillance authorities.
