OTP BANK in partnership with UCulture released series of lectures about history of Ukrainian money

21/ 10/ 2024
OTP BANK JSC for half of a year supported UCulture team in preparation of series of lectures about history of Ukrainian money. During this time, the educational platform released videos about the symbolism of the images and historical figures on bills of 1, 2, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 hryvnia. In addition, a video story about the evolution of the Ukrainian hryvnia from a neck jewelry to a measure of weight and a unit of monetary circulation was recorded. The lectures were created with the intellectual support of the Department of History National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. All video materials, recorded during cooperation, were placed with free access on Banks YouTube chanel and on UCulture website.  “This is an extremely important cultural project. We were able to look at Ukrainian money through the prism of the personalities depicted on them, through their dreams, deeds and the role they played in the history and formation of the Ukrainian state. We see how these stories have influenced us today. Thus, our money is a living embodiment of both the past and the present of Ukraine, entire historical layers are engraved in them. Therefore, a living reminder of our identity is in our hands every day”, - noted team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity project and director of retail sales and network management of OTP BANK Lesia Syrota. OTP BANK and UCulture started cooperation on March 18, 2024 - the first day of the World Money Week, which is celebrated every year by more than 100 countries around the world. The UCulture educational platform was launched in March 2023. Its website contains lectures about development of Ukrainian culture from ancient times to the present, as well as interviews with leading experts.
