Guest visit to the Orlivka ferry complex: logistics and international connections

11/ 04/ 2025
EBA Odesa continues its tradition of guest visits to leading enterprises in Southern Ukraine. On April 10, 2025, together with representatives of member companies, we traveled to the Izmail district to explore the operations of two key Danube logistics facilities — the Orlivka Ferry Complex and Orlivka River Port LLC.  The Orlivka Ferry Complex is a unique infrastructure facility that serves as an international border crossing between Ukraine and Romania. Located on the left bank of the Danube, it ensures continuous connection with the Romanian port of Isaccea. Thanks to modern engineering solutions, the complex can accommodate all types of river and sea vessels regardless of the water level, which guarantees flexibility and stability in logistics operations.  Participants of the visit had the opportunity to inspect the facilitys infrastructure, including the two-level berth, administrative and service zones. A comprehensive network of supporting services operates on site, including a TIR-parking area, insurance services, customs control, a 24/7 bank branch, café, Duty Free zone, gas station, and electric vehicle charging station. Special attention was given to the transshipment complex that began operations at the ferry hub in autumn 2024. Orlivka River Port LLC functions as a full-fledged cargo transshipment terminal.  During the meeting, participants discussed long-term development prospects — in particular, the integration of Ukrainian logistics into European transport corridors, the creation of new transshipment chains, and attracting investment for infrastructure modernization. The visit concluded with a business lunch in Izmail. Participants emphasized that such trips allow for a deeper understanding of the current state of the industry, help discover new areas for collaboration, facilitate experience exchange, and foster a shared vision for the development of logistics infrastructure.  The visit to Orlivka provided a clear view of the regions infrastructure potential and reaffirmed that Ukraine’s Danube region holds strong and promising prospects.  In today’s conditions, where alternative logistics routes are critically important, such regional initiatives can play a key role in ensuring Ukraine’s logistics resilience and its integration into European transport systems.
