BizGuard: Safety Algorithm — Employer Actions During Threats and Emergencies

28/ 05/ 2025
Today’s Ukrainian business operates under constant threat: air raid alerts, missile strikes, explosions, employee injuries, and fires have become part of everyday reality. In such conditions, it is critical not only to have basic infrastructure — first aid kits, shelters, evacuation plans — but also to act quickly, coherently, and confidently.  That is why on May 28, the Southern Ukrainian Office of the European Business Association, in partnership with member company PARAMEDIC, held a practical event BizGuard: Safety Algorithm — focused on how businesses can prepare for emergencies and protect their employees.  The event was opened by Dmytro Shatalyuk, Coordinator of the Committees at the South Ukrainian Office. In his opening remarks, he emphasized: “Today, we are talking not about theoretical safety, but about real actions under threat. Missiles, evacuations, first aid — these are now daily responsibilities for management. Safety is our constant focus. We strive for Ukrainian businesses to be not only efficient but also protected.”  Participants received step-by-step instructions on how to act:  during air raid alerts and missile threats;  during evacuation and sheltering;  in case of a hit: how to call emergency services, provide first aid, coordinate actions until rescuers arrive;  as well as on the employer’s responsibility for training staff, developing safety instructions, and equipping workplaces.  👩‍⚕️ Speakers at the event:  Tetyana Hunko, Regional Director of PARAMEDIC (Kyiv);  Tamara Bilko, PhD, Associate Professor at NUBiP Ukraine, expert in hygiene and occupational safety (ESOSH).  The event was highly practical: the experts not only shared theoretical knowledge but also gave concrete recommendations, discussed real cases, and answered many participant questions. Everyone learned how to adapt safety algorithms specifically for their business to effectively protect their teams.  🎁 The event concluded with a raffle for an individual Tourist Series first aid kit with a CAT tourniquet — a useful item for any office.  This event once again proved that in critical situations, it is not just equipment that saves lives but people who know what and how to act. EBA Odesa continues working to make Ukrainian business not only resilient but also protected.
