EBA  welcomes the Government’s decision to include a CBAM exemption in the EU Integration Action Plan The Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association welcomes the Government’s decision to include in the EU Integration Action Plan the pursuit of a temporary exemption from the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This is an extremely important step for business, as it will help safeguard the competitiveness of Ukrainian companies on the European market and support the national economy in times of war. Members of the ЕВА’s Committee have repeatedly stressed that CBAM could pose a significant barrier to Ukrainian exports without adequate financial support and a deferral of the mechanism’s introduction. The business community is convinced that a temporary exemption from CBAM will enable Ukrainian companies to focus on restoring production, implementing innovations, and gradually decarbonising in line with European standards. The EBA sincerely thanks the Government for taking the business position into account. We will continue working with the state and international partners to create favourable conditions for business and accelerate Ukraine’s integration with the EU.
