The European Business Association has sent an open letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, expressing its appreciation to the relevant state authorities for their effective market surveillance and customs control measures in the area of gas boiler imports.<\/p>\n
In its appeal, the Association\u2019s Consumer Electronics Committee highlighted the systemic problem of the importation and sale in Ukraine of non-energy-efficient space heaters (gas boilers), which have been prohibited from being placed on the market since August 2022 due to non-compliance with ecodesign requirements established by Technical Regulations No. 804 and No. 1184.<\/p>\n
According to estimates provided by member companies of the Committee, in 2025 such prohibited non-energy-efficient boilers accounted for more than half of the market, reaching approximately 75,000 units per year.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Association emphasises that the widespread circulation of prohibited equipment has negative consequences for bona fide businesses, the state budget and Ukraine\u2019s energy security. In particular, the use of a single non-energy-efficient boiler may result in excess gas consumption of around 580 cubic metres per year<\/strong>, while the total losses over 10 years of operation of boilers imported in 2025 alone could amount to approximately 435 million cubic metres of gas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n At the same time, the business community positively notes the efforts of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the State Customs Service of Ukraine, which since autumn 2025 have recorded cases of suspension and refusal to allow the placing on the market of large consignments of boilers that failed to meet safety and ecodesign requirements.<\/p>\n The Association also drew attention to the fact that the relevant products have been included in the 2026 Sectoral Plan of State Market Surveillance and Control, and expressed its expectation of continued systematic attention from public authorities to this issue in order to fully prevent the importation and distribution of prohibited non-energy-efficient boilers in Ukraine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The European Business Association has sent an open letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, expressing its appreciation to the relevant state authorities for their effective market surveillance and customs control measures in the area of gas boiler imports.
