On 28 October, representatives of the Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development Committee of the European Business Association met with the EU Delegation (Delegation Ukraine Trade) to discuss current issues in Ukraine\u2019s climate policy. During the meeting, participants focused in particular on challenges related to the implementation of Ukraine\u2019s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement and the introduction of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).<\/p>\n
Participants noted that Ukraine\u2019s current climate targets are overly ambitious, given the consequences of the war and the current state of the economy. The discussion also highlighted that available statistical data on emissions and industrial recovery are limited, which complicates planning. Business representatives expressed their readiness to participate in modelling and target calculations, rather than merely commenting on results.<\/p>\n
The discussion further addressed the possibility of special CBAM procedures for Ukraine. Participants emphasised the importance of supporting Ukrainian exports to the EU, especially during the post-war recovery period.<\/p>\n
