On 10 January, the European Business Association participated in a working meeting with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.<\/p>\n

The participants discussed a range of issues related to the development and implementation of regulatory acts in the field of food flavourings and food safety. The main topics included:<\/p>\n

1. Progress on amendments to regulatory acts governing the circulation of food flavourings containing precursors (piperonal, safrole, and phenylacetic acid).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Representatives of the Ministry of Health provided updates on the current preparation of amendments to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 770 of 6 May 2000. Business representatives, in turn, emphasised the importance of reviewing the list of substances to be excluded from the regulation. The current resolution impacts not only the food industry but also other sectors, such as perfumery and cleaning products manufacturing.<\/p>\n

2. Development of regulatory acts for implementing the Laws of Ukraine \u201cOn Basic Principles and Requirements for Food Safety and Quality\u201d and \u201cOn Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

EBA representatives stressed the need to have the regulatory framework in place before these laws come into effect in November 2025. The Ministry of Health noted that some of these acts have already been adopted and that work is ongoing to develop the procedure for state registration.<\/p>\n

3. The current state of development of the state register of objects envisaged by the Law of Ukraine \u201cOn Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

4. Work on revising State Sanitary Rules and updating standards for \u201cMaximum Allowable Levels of Certain Contaminants in Food Products.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants also discussed additional issues, including Ministry of Health Order No. 625 of 4 April 2023, concerning permissible pesticide residues in food products, as well as regulations on radionuclides.<\/p>\n
