On 17 October 2024, the President of Ukraine signed two significant laws aimed at resetting the customs service and aligning customs legislation with the current EU Customs Code. The business community has actively supported these innovations, as they bring the conditions for conducting foreign economic activity much closer to those in the EU.<\/p>\n
The first law, \u21163977-IX (bill \u21166490-d), is focused on a comprehensive reform of the customs service, including personnel changes and salary increases, which are expected to reduce corruption and improve efficiency. The second law, \u21163926-IX (bill \u211610411), implements provisions of the EU Customs Code by introducing new standards for customs storage and representation, making it easier for businesses to adopt modern European practices.<\/p>\n
It is expected that the competitions for leadership positions in the State Customs Service will be conducted fairly, without the involvement of individuals with tarnished reputations, and a professional re-evaluation of the entire customs workforce will also be carried out.<\/p>\n
The business sector anticipates that these changes will enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian businesses, reduce administrative barriers, and improve cooperation with international partners. With a transparent system of customs procedures, businesses will be able to operate more effectively in export and import, strengthening their financial resilience and growth.<\/p>\n
