{"id":788057,"date":"2021-06-07T11:11:01","date_gmt":"2021-06-07T08:11:01","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2024-01-31T22:40:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T20:40:03","slug":"kozhen-chetvertyj-opytanyj-ukrayinets-zadovolenyj-svoyim-zhyttyam-doslidzhennya-eva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/kozhen-chetvertyj-opytanyj-ukrayinets-zadovolenyj-svoyim-zhyttyam-doslidzhennya-eva\/","title":{"rendered":"One in four Ukrainian is satisfied with the quality of life in the country, &#8211; EBA survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As reported by the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Barometer of Happiness in Ukraine<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, a survey conducted by the European Business Association together with Kernel, this year, the Barometer Index reached\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2.65<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">points<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0out of 5 possible. Thus, the value of the index remained in the negative plane and was almost unchanged compared to last year (2.64 points).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Barometer-2021_eng.pdf\">View the presentation<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Out of the nine index components, there are six ones that have increased in value. Meanwhile, the values of three others have expectedly declined &#8211; namely health care, income level, and social life. Hereunder, we provide the assessment of each component of the integrated index.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The following criteria received higher scores:<\/span><\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">3,53<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 current job<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">3,15<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 social life and leisure\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">3,00<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 general life experience in Ukraine<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,60<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 education system<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">More than half of the respondents are satisfied with their\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">current job<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0&#8211; 52%, and another 37% rate it satisfactorily. At the same time, the majority of respondents complain about overtime work, the volume of which has increased significantly over the last year, and the actual lack of work-life balance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Also, the vast majority of respondents, namely 78%, satisfactorily or positively assess the quality of\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">their social life and leisure<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, although they note that quarantine has significantly adjusted the normal way of doing sports, attending mass events, or meeting friends. Besides, leisure options in the regions remain much more modest than in large cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The assessment of the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">education system<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has improved slightly this year and has reached higher scores. Thus, 41% assess the level of educational services in Ukraine satisfactorily, another 13% &#8211; positively. Meanwhile, 46% are dissatisfied with the education system in Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In general, one in four Ukrainian, who participated in the survey, is satisfied with the quality of life. 25% of respondents rated their\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">general life experience in Ukraine<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0positively, another 51% &#8211; satisfactory, while the other 24% are dissatisfied with the quality of life in Ukraine (compared to 31% last year). Among the factors that were negatively assessed by respondents, and that influence the quality of life in Ukraine, are safety, the health care system, and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The following criteria received lower scores:<\/span><\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,44<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 income level<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,43<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 human rights<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,28<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 ecology<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,24<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 health care<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2,21<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0points \u2013 security and safety<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Commenting on their\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">income level<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, 45% of respondents called it sufficient for a normal life (last year 55%), while 55% consider their own income level insufficient. Survey participants commented that they have enough money mostly for basic expenses, while for vacation, purchase of expensive things, cars, or real estate it is necessary to save for a long time, or income for these is not enough at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The assessment of the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">legal field<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in the country has risen to several positions this year, which includes an assessment of human rights compliance, the level of democratic freedoms, and administrative services. Almost half of the respondents, namely 47%, assess the state of the legal field in Ukraine as satisfactory or good, the other 57% are dissatisfied with the state of affairs. Survey participants noted that there are still displays of bureaucracy, corruption and discrimination, low customer orientation of government agencies, and frequent cases of human rights violations. Among the positive factors, respondents mention significant changes in digitalization and improved quality of administrative services over the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The assessment of the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">health care<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0system has significantly decreased this year &#8211; 65% of respondents consider it unsatisfactory. The deterioration of the assessment was due, in particular, to the low capacity of the medical system to respond to the challenges of the pandemic, the low qualification of the medical staff, and the difficulty of obtaining medical care in rural and small towns. At the same time, 29% assess the level of medicine satisfactorily, and only 6% &#8211; positively, referring mostly to their experience of using private institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ukrainians do not assess the state of the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">environment<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in the best way. Only 32% assess the environmental situation in Ukraine satisfactorily, while 63% of respondents consider it negative. Although these indicators have improved slightly compared to last year, Ukrainians are still concerned about the lack of recycling facilities, poor air, and drinking water quality, and the low level of environmental awareness of citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">And traditionally the worst assessment was given to the level of safety in the country. Thus, 66% of respondents are dissatisfied with their safety and feel insecure about their own future. Most people are concerned about the lack of stability in the context of the war in eastern Ukraine, the selective abuse from the judiciary and law enforcement authorities, low social security, raiding.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<div class=\"blockquote-custom-big animate-block animate-block--before animate-block--to-right\">\n\n\t\t<div class=\"quote-header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Anna_2020.png\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"name\">Anna Derevyanko<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"position\">EBA Executive Director<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"blockquote-custom\">\n\t\t\t\tFor the fourth year in a row, we do not see significant changes in the Barometer results, and the majority of social problems roam from year to year. As before, the corporate sector in Ukraine cares and protects its employees not only at work but also in everyday life. And during the pandemic year, this fact has gained even more assurances. An online survey was sent to European Business Association member companies, we also suggested Facebook users fill out a questionnaire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">50% of respondents live in Kyiv. 56% of the respondents are people aged 26-40 years.
