This was discussed during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations, and Digitization \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/mepr.gov.ua\/content\/strilec-ruslan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mr. Ruslan Strilets<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The abovementioned initiative is proposed by the draft Law on Restricting the Circulation of Plastic Bags on the Territory of Ukraine\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"http:\/\/w1.c1.rada.gov.ua\/pls\/zweb2\/webproc4_1?pf3511=66892\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2051-1<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It is required to refuse plastic bags after 6 months of the entry into force of the Law and 9 months after the ban on oxo-biodegradable plastics for sale to consumers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So far, the draft law has been passed in the first reading. According to preliminary information, the Parliament will likely support it this week as a whole.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The companies expressed support for the Ministry&#8217;s aspiration to gradually refuse plastics to improve the environmental situation in the country. The same practice is used in EU countries. However, the <strong>EBA member companies put emphasis on<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00b7 the need to develop framework legislation on waste management,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00b7 the need to extend the term of entry into force of the draft law to 1.5 years as a new supplier of packages with appropriate requirements and labeling can be selected only based on tenders and by-laws,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00b7 the need to consider the international experience in the development of bylaws because in Ukraine\u2019s market a large number of imported goods containing plastics as a part of the packaging, and therefore \u2013 they already have appropriate markings,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00b7 the need to consider the practical use of plastics for packing certain groups of goods by weight (meat, cheese, cookies, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The European Business Association thanks the Deputy Minister and participants for the meeting.
