On November 10, the European Business Association held the EBA Sustainable Development Day on the platform of the Committee on Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development. The event marked the beginning of a discussion on the pressing issues regarding an effective and balanced environmental policy in Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, the forum featured\u00a0<\/span>Olga Stefanishina<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine;\u00a0<\/span>Roman Abramovsky<\/span><\/strong>, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine;\u00a0<\/span>Taras Kachka<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine \u2013 Trade Representative of Ukraine;\u00a0<\/span>Iryna Stavchuk<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources for European Integration,\u00a0<\/span>Ruslan Strilets<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine;\u00a0<\/span>Dmytro Kysylevsky<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development;\u00a0<\/span>Oleksandr Marikovsky<\/span><\/strong>, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management;\u00a0<\/span>Liudmyla Buimister<\/span><\/strong>, Chairman of the Sub-committee on Development of Competition and a Level Playing Field for Business of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Economic Development;\u00a0<\/span>Oleksandr Bondarenko<\/span><\/strong>, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives of private business and state-owned companies also took part in the discussion, including DTEK, PJSC Arcelor Mittal Kryvyi Rih, Interpipe, Recycling Solutions, NEC Ukrenergo, BASF, Kernel-Trade LLC, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, PJSC “Kryvyi Rih Cement”, PJSC “MHP” and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the 4 sessions, participants discussed the following issues: implementation of the European Green Deal and challenges related to decarbonization; prospects for environmental modernization, the possibility of a circular economy and waste management, as well as strategies for sustainable development of the state and business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green transformation is inevitable, but it should not contradict the development of business in Ukraine – said the participants of the event. The country should also be more pragmatic in defending its position on the European Green Deal. In addition, during the event, there was a presentation of a green book on reforming environmental policy and legislation to ensure sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the European Business Association, member companies of the Committee on Industrial Environment and Sustainable Development are actively involved in the public debate on reforming environmental legislation to help achieve the goals of sustainable development. So, we hope that soon we will be able to build quality environmental legislation.<\/span><\/p>\n
