Today, on February 25, the European Business Association held an official presentation of the newly created EBA Committee on Industrial Ecology and Sustainable Development.<\/strong> It is intended that the Committee will become a platform for cooperation and communication between the business community and government representatives, where solutions for the harmonious development of industry and sustainable development will be worked out. The new Committee includes representatives of international companies and major enterprises in the agrarian, metallurgical, energy, and cement industries of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, key stakeholders from the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, the State Environmental Inspectorate and representatives of the business community shared their vision for tackling such issues, as industrial pollution, the effective use of environmental taxes, the introduction of transparent rules of control and business audit, and the implementation of the Green Deal in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\t

\n\t\t\t\tBy following the global trends of responsible production, more and more Ukrainian industrial enterprises are recognizing the need to minimize the impact on the environment and to use the natural resources rationally.\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n

Thus, during the meeting, the participants outlined the Committee’s primary goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Reduction of industrial pollution by enterprises as part of Ukraine’s international obligations<\/li>\n
  • Reduction of industrial waste generation<\/li>\n
  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by industry, including CO2<\/li>\n
  • Stimulation of industrial waste utilization and introduction of circular economy principles in Ukraine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    To sum up, participants noted the role of environmental responsibility for businesses on the path to the sustainable development of the country and economic stimulation of enterprises by the state to improve the environment.<\/p>\n
