{"id":787446,"date":"2022-03-19T14:50:32","date_gmt":"2022-03-19T12:50:32","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2022-03-23T13:53:51","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T11:53:51","slug":"dopomoga-farmatsevtychnoyi-spilnoty-asotsiatsiyi-pid-chas-vijskovoyi-agresiyi-rosijskoyi-federatsiyi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/dopomoga-farmatsevtychnoyi-spilnoty-asotsiatsiyi-pid-chas-vijskovoyi-agresiyi-rosijskoyi-federatsiyi\/","title":{"rendered":"EBA Pharmaceutical community aid in the conditions of military aggression of the russian federation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Health Care Committee of the European Business Association is the most numerous community in Ukraine of pharmaceutical and medical devices manufacturers, Clinical Research Organizations, and other clinical trials industry companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today, in the conditions of the russian federation&#8217;s military aggression against Ukraine, leading pharmaceutical and medical companies aim to continue their operation in Ukraine. The companies of the EBA Health Care Committee demonstrate high social responsibility and public commitment by providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian patients and supporting the health care system of Ukraine. The companies of the EBA Health Care Committee actively cooperate with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, other government bodies, state enterprises, and health care institutions, as well as volunteer organizations to provide the necessary assistance, and to further the support of necessary amount of medicines in the warehouses and its supply.<\/p>\n<p>It is generally estimated that from February 24, 2022 (the beginning of the military aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine), the pharmaceutical companies of the EBA Health Care Committee, namely <strong>AbbVie, Arterium,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>AstraZeneca, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim International GmbH<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Darnitsa, Egis, Farmak, Novartis, Orion Pharma,\u00a0Pfizer,\u00a0Philips,\u00a0Roche Diagnostics, Sandoz, Sanofi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Takeda<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Teva,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>U\u0421B,\u00a0W\u00f6rwag Pharma <\/strong>provided assistance to Ukraine in the total amount of <strong>USD 44.1 million<\/strong> or more than <strong>UAH 1 billion 296 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/ebbvi-biofarmasyutikalz-gmbh\/\">AbbVie<\/a><\/strong> donated <strong>USD 1 million<\/strong> to International Medical Corps and Project HOPE for medical care and supplies for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. The company also donates essential medicines to the Ukrainian government and its disaster relief partners. AbbVie has doubled the AbbVie Foundation&#8217;s employee donation for special disaster relief partners who are actively involved in providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine and neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/korporatsiya-arterium\/\">Arterium<\/a><\/strong> provided humanitarian aid with medicines of its own production in the amount of <strong>UAH 17.7 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/tov-astrazeneka-ukrayna\/\">AstraZeneca<\/a><\/strong> has made the following donations to Ukraine in connection with the russian-Ukrainian war:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provided humanitarian aid to Ukrainian patients with medicines of its production worth <strong>USD 3 million<\/strong>, which were transferred from a warehouse in Ukraine directly to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in cooperation with the international humanitarian aid supply partner &#8211; Direct Relief. The aid includes innovative oncological drugs, medicines for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and others.<\/li>\n<li>Committed to providing <strong>USD 1 million<\/strong> to support relief organizations, focused on health care and humanitarian aid to those affected. Funding is currently provided by the following organizations: Project Hope and International Medical Corps.<\/li>\n<li>Provided humanitarian aid with medicines in cooperation with Red Cross affiliates in neighboring countries to respond to the refugee crisis.<\/li>\n<li>AstraZeneca employees around the world have also made charitable donations; the total amount of <strong>USD<\/strong><strong> 250<\/strong><strong> thousand<\/strong> (as of March 10, 2022) was directed to meet the needs of partners &#8211; UNICEF and the Red Cross. In turn, AstraZeneca has increased its total donation to <strong>USD 500,000.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/bayer\/\">Bayer<\/a><\/strong> established a EUR 3 million support fund for international and local humanitarian organizations operating in Ukraine and Eastern European neighboring countries. The fund includes an initial donation of EUR 300 thousand for the Red Cross and local organizations, provided a day after the russian federation attacked Ukraine. In 12 days, Bayer employees raised more than <strong>EUR 900 thousand<\/strong> of charitable donations to help Ukraine through the German Red Cross. The company will double all employee donations to increase support. At the request of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Bayer provided the first batch of antibiotics and sterile materials, which will help provide up to 27 thousand patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/predstavnytstvo-beringer-ingelhajm-rtsv-gmbh-end-ko-kg\/\">Boehringer Ingelheim<\/a><\/strong> donated <strong>\u00a0EUR<\/strong> <strong>2.5 million<\/strong> to charitable organizations providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and its citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Another company\u2019s initiative is considering the airlift of cardio-vascular, metabolic and respiratory products from the United States to Poland. The product will then be trucked to the Ukrainian border for pick up by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and\/or in-country Non-Governmental Organization partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/darnytsya\/\">Darnitsa<\/a><\/strong> donated almost <strong>600,000 packages<\/strong> of medicines to medical institutions and volunteer organizations which help Ukrainian military and civilians. Darnitsa medicines worth <strong>UAH 26.6 million<\/strong>, were donated to the Main Military Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Ambulance Hospital, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital \u211617, National Institute of Heart, Okhmatdyt, Zakarpattia Territorial Emergency Medical Care Center and Charitable Foundations &#8220;Back and Alive&#8221; &#8220;Tabletochki&#8221;, Zhytomyr City Council, Kozelets Intensive Care Hospital, military units. At its own expense, the company imported into the country a strategic hemostatic, which is extremely important for the army, <strong>10,000<\/strong> <strong>packages<\/strong> of this hemostatic medicines are transferred free of charge to hospitals, TDF, Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p>The production of other strategically important medicine categories in larger quantities for the country and the Armed Forces was renewed. Those include infusion solutions, ointments, pills. Medicines are delivered to almost all &#8220;hot&#8221; spots of the country, such as Mariupol, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr. Darnitsa has sent its pharmaceutical-educated staff to help pharmacy networks as volunteer pharmacists. So far, more than 40 employees of the company with a pharmaceutical education have applied for a job in pharmacies on a volunteer basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/predstavnytstvo-egis-farmasyutikals-pls\/\">Egis<\/a><\/strong> in Hungary provided humanitarian aid to Ukrainian patients in the amount of more than <strong>USD 500,000<\/strong> and provided the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with antiseptics, antidepressants, antimicrobials, cardiac drugs and other drugs for emergency care. The company offered further humanitarian aid in the amount of <strong>HUF 100 million<\/strong> and planned additional supplies of medicines to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/member\/pat-farmak\/\">Farmak<\/a><\/strong> and the Zhebrivsky Family Charitable Foundation have been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the first days of the war in 2014. Medical equipment, protective structures, bulletproof vests, first aid kits, and medicines were purchased and transferred both before and after the full-scale military invasion of the Russian occupiers into the territory of Ukraine. The total amount of donation to medical institutions, the Armed Forces, territorial defense and civilians from December 2021 up to now is approximately <strong>UAH 5.8 million<\/strong>, <strong>UAH 4.2 million <\/strong>of which are medicines. In addition, from the first days of the invasion, Farmak has been providing logistics assistance to the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which is to consist of 9 trucks with medicines, some of which have already been unloaded in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/novartis-pharma-services-ag-zentraler-faktureneingang-wkl-420-6-03-4056-basel-switzerland\/\">Novartis<\/a><\/strong> has joined the humanitarian efforts and made an initial donation of <strong>USD 3 million<\/strong> to be shared between three humanitarian organizations: International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Save the Children, International Rescue Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The company expands humanitarian aid by donating its inventory of medicines directly within the country, including much-needed antibiotics and painkillers as well as other products, for use in Ukrainian medical facilities. As of March 15, almost <strong>200.000 packs of medicines<\/strong> have been donated. Novartis in Ukraine is represented by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/tov-sandoz-ukrayna\/\">Sandoz Ukraine LLC<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/novartis-pharma-services-ag-zentraler-faktureneingang-wkl-420-6-03-4056-basel-switzerland\/\">Novartis Pharma Services AG<\/a><\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/orion-korporejshn\/\">Orion Pharma<\/a><\/strong> donated <strong>EUR 51,00<\/strong><strong>0<\/strong> to the Finnish Red Cross to help those affected by the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/fajzer-ejch-si-pi-korporejshn\/\">Pfizer<\/a><\/strong> is involved in a number of humanitarian efforts to support Ukraine in this difficult time. The Pfizer Foundation, a charitable organization, has donated <strong>USD 1 million<\/strong> to organizations operating in Ukraine and neighboring countries, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The American Red Cross<\/em> to support the ambulance crews, medical facilities to provide medicines and medical equipment, social support to families and assistance in repairing vital infrastructure;<\/li>\n<li><em>International Medical Corps<\/em> to support operational services of emergency and primary health care;<\/li>\n<li><em>The International Rescue Committee<\/em> to support efforts in neighboring countries to mobilize resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A campaign has also been launched to eliminate the humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine to enable all staff members to provide aid to key organizations helping victims of the conflict in Ukraine and neighboring countries. The company also provided humanitarian aid for the urgent needs of military hospitals and clinics at their request, as well as provided medicines for patients suffering from chronic diseases (R&amp;D, cancer and cardiovascular disease). The total amount of aid is about <strong>USD 2 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/tov-filips-ukrayina\/\">Philips<\/a><\/strong> is working hard to help those affected by the russian aggression in the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Assistance for Hospitals<\/em> \u2013 Philips Foundation is providing a 20-bed mobile hospital equipped with Philips\u2019 patient monitors, electrocardiographs, and handheld diagnostic ultrasound devices.<\/li>\n<li><em>Support for emergency care<\/em> \u2013 installed <strong>60 mobile check-up units<\/strong> \u2013 using Philips handheld diagnostic ultrasound devices and <strong>5 mobile diagnostic X-ray units<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><em>Help to those who need it<\/em> \u2013 provided Philips Avent appliances and products (breast pumps, sterilizers, bottles, pacifiers and milk storage bags) to those organizations that currently need them, including TDF, hospitals, clinics, volunteer organizations;<\/li>\n<li><em>Financial support and supplies for displaced Ukrainian citizens<\/em> \u2013 provided assistance to displaced Ukrainian citizens at the Romanian and Polish borders to cover accommodation and travel costs, as well as support for mothers and children in the form of respirators and Philips portable ultrasound devices for use in special medical tents.<\/li>\n<li><em>Company Employee Donation Program<\/em> &#8211; company employees donate through the Company Fund to provide emergency humanitarian aid to people in Ukraine and on its borders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/rosh-ukrayina-tov\/\">Roche Diagnostics<\/a><\/strong> provided humanitarian aid to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the amount of <strong>USD 1,745,346,<\/strong> including tests and consumables for donor blood testing.<\/p>\n<p>From the first days of the war, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/sanofi-aventis-ukraine\/\">Sanofi<\/a><\/strong> has been cooperating with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and providing the necessary drugs to the regions of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>At the global level, Sanofi donated a total of EUR <strong>5 million<\/strong> of aid, transferred to the Red Cross in Ukraine and neighboring European countries, and directed to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/tov-takeda-ukrayina\/\">Takeda<\/a><\/strong> has joined the global humanitarian effort and provided <strong>JPY 300 million (approximately USD 2.6 million)<\/strong> to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for immediate local humanitarian support of people displaced and affected by the russian aggression. Takeda Ukraine LLC donates medicines to hospitals. The company&#8217;s employees make personal donations to several local and global non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n<p>To expand humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/tov-teva-ukrayina\/\">Teva Ukraine<\/a><\/strong> donated essential medicines worth <strong>USD 11 million<\/strong>. The company delivered more than <strong>1.3 million packages of<\/strong> medicines, including antibiotics and other medicines which are on the WHO list of essential medicines, as well as goods for Ukrainian infants and children suffering from poor sanitation. <strong>Teva<\/strong> has donated more than <strong>350,000 packages of medicines<\/strong> to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the amount of more than <strong>USD 756 thousand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To support humanitarian efforts, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/yusb-farma-gmbh-nimechchyna\/\">UCB<\/a><\/strong> donated <strong>EUR 300,000<\/strong> to the International Rescue Committee and the Belgian Red Cross. The company delivered <strong>5,000 units of antiepileptic drugs <\/strong>and<strong> 5,000 units of antiallergic drugs<\/strong> through Tulipe to help Ukrainian patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/member\/vorvag-farma-gmbh-i-ko-kg\/\">W\u00f6rvag Pharma<\/a><\/strong> provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the amount of <strong>UAH 650,000<\/strong> for the procurement of necessary medicines.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Care Committee of the European Business Association is grateful to the member companies for their incredible efforts to ensure the continued supply of medicines and medical equipment to Ukrainian patients in these difficult times and to provide substantial humanitarian support. We are proud of the implementation of these initiatives. Devotion to patients is a top priority for the medical and pharmaceutical community, and in times of war and terrible events in Ukraine, this priority must be maintained and increased.<\/p>\n<p>So, let&#8217;s do everything to make Ukraine&#8217;s victory come as soon as possible!
