The Ukrainian charity foundation Energy Act for Ukraine has launched the construction of hybrid solar power plants in three medical facilities across the country. This is a critically important step that will enable hospitals to continue operating during blackouts and safeguard patients\u2019 lives \u2014 even when Ukraine\u2019s energy system faces its most severe challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This project is made possible with the support of: <\/span>The Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF) funds this project. UPF is a programme from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency commissioned by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. De Boomgaard Foundation, Solarge, Ukrainian-Netherlands Charitable Foundation Lifeline, and the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine has endured the most difficult energy months since the beginning of the full-scale war<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In November\u2013December 2025, due to large-scale attacks on the energy infrastructure, the country experienced a record number of emergency outages. Some regions remained without electricity for 12\u201316 hours a day, forcing hospitals to rely on generators \u2014 a solution that cannot ensure the continuous and safe operation of complex medical equipment and remains a financially burdensome source of energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The launch of three new solar power plants is part of a large-scale program aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and strengthening the energy resilience of frontline regions. As part of this initiative, Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation, together with Ukrainian-Netherlands Charitable Foundation Lifeline, will equip 22 medical facilities with autonomous solar power plants and energy storage systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is one of the key medical centers in the region, providing highly specialized cardiology care. During blackouts, the hospital risks interruptions in the operation of equipment that is essential for monitoring patients\u2019 vital signs.<\/span><\/p>\n
