The European Business Association\u2019s Committee of Animal Health held a professional roundtable on \u201cAvian Influenza: Current Situation and Actions.\u201d The event brought together key stakeholders of the sector: representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the Ministries of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, as well as European experts, WHO specialists, representatives of the State Scientific Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise, and professionals from the poultry industry.<\/p>\n

Participants shared up-to-date information about the avian influenza situation in Ukraine and Europe, discussed challenges for the poultry industry, ways to minimize risks, and effective cooperation models between the state and business.<\/p>\n

Key discussion highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joint approach.<\/strong> Participants unanimously emphasized the need for close coordination among the competent authority, veterinary doctors, business representatives, and public health experts. The epizootic situation with avian influenza requires coordinated action at all levels.<\/p>\n

Harmonization with European practices.<\/strong> Particular attention was paid to the need to align national monitoring, control, and vaccination programs with European standards.<\/p>\n

Value of international experience.<\/strong> European experts shared examples of effective avian influenza control in EU countries, highlighting the importance of a systemic approach, informational transparency, and on-farm biosecurity.<\/p>\n

Importance of strain differentiation.<\/strong> Participants also stressed the need for clear differentiation between H5, H7, and H9 strains \u2014 a critical factor for both domestic response and international reporting.<\/p>\n

The roundtable became an important step toward developing a unified strategic approach to combating avian influenza in Ukraine. Integrating international experience, harmonizing with European standards, and ensuring cross-sectoral collaboration are key components of an effective response to current industry challenges.<\/p>\n
