On May 9, the Food Committee of the European Business Association held a meeting with Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine<\/strong>. Representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine also participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Taras Vysotskyi emphasized that within the framework of European integration, the Ministry is adapting legislation under the chapter \u201cFood Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy.\u201d Key tasks include finalizing legal approximation to fulfill the Association Agreement requirements regarding plant health, genetically modified organisms, and official controls, as well as further aligning with EU legislation on animal welfare.<\/p>\n

In addition, several important issues related to trade and food safety were discussed, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • trade relations between Ukraine and the EU after June 5, 2025;<\/li>\n
  • the current situation with food flavorings;<\/li>\n
  • veterinary control of products from the EU in light of the spread of foot-and-mouth disease;<\/li>\n
  • development of secondary legislation in the area of food safety;<\/li>\n
  • export of Ukrainian goods to the Republic of Mauritius and the importance of concluding a free trade agreement with the country;<\/li>\n
  • ensuring free navigation and protecting port infrastructure in the Black Sea region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food also presented its action plan through the end of 2025. Key priorities include updating legislation on organic production and launching several other initiatives.<\/p>\n
