CDTO Campus students took part in the intensive training course organized by McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. This training is a part of the leadership program \u201cShaping the Digital Future\u201d, which is designed for leading experts who contribute to Ukraine\u2019s digital transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n

CDTO Campus has launched a partnership with Georgetown Untiversity to train future digital leaders in public service. The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Washington, D.C., working meetings and training sessions were held as part of the leadership program \u201cShaping the Digital Future\u201d. The program provides professional growth and networking opportunities for prominent practitioners involved in Ukraine\u2019s digitalization process.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor us it is crucial to have strong digital teams to support numerical transformation on the ground and build the most convenient digital state in the world. To strengthen the expertise of existing teams and attract new digital professionals, we are initiating a number of educational programs,\u201d<\/em> said Valeria Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.<\/strong> \u201cThe launch of the partnership between CDTO Campus and the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University is a new opportunity to learn international best pracrices and to share Ukraine\u2019s innovative solutions with the world.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The program is open to CDTOs with strong background in digital projects from both private and public sectors upon recommendation of their top managers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe power of digital transformation has been clearly demonstrated in Ukraine\u2019s fight for freedom. At an unprecedented pace, the country has been able to adopt and adapt digital technologies in the public sector, rethinking service delivery and creating a people-centered government,\u201d<\/em> said Michelle Demoy, Director of the Tech & Public Policy Program at the McCourt School of Public Policy. <\/strong><\/span>This has enabled the government to remain effective for its citizens in this extremely challenging time. The McCourt School of Public Policy and the Tech & Public Policy program is honored to partner with CDTO Campus to strengthen the digital policy capacity of Ukraine\u2019s government leaders. This international partnership, like many others, creates opportunities to shape an innovative and hopeful digital future that leads to a more connected and democratic world.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The Washington-based immersive workshop featured a rich curriculum, plenty of case studies and practical assignments, as well as lectures from world leaders in digitalization. Among them:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Colonel William J. Walsh<\/strong>, professor at the Department of Government and the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Renee Wynne<\/strong>, former CIO of NASA;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Nick Nigre<\/strong>, CEO of Atlas Public Policy;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Anastasia Gnatenko<\/strong>, External Affairs Manager at Quantum AI, Google;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • John Grant<\/strong>, founder of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Engineering team at Palantir Technologies, and others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u201cThe USAID-supported training program to enhance skills and competencies of digital transformation pundits is one of the areas of assistance to strengthen Ukraine\u2019s cyber resilience,\u201d<\/em> said Carl Wurster, Chief of Party for Digitalization at USAID Mission to Ukraine.<\/strong> \u201cThe program participants deepened their digital knowledge, explored the challenges and opportunities of a digital government to incorporate digital ethics, privacy, and cybersecurity into their practices, and learned how to make data-driven decisions, develop product thinking, and digital transformation strategies. Strong digital leaders in the public sector are one of the foundations for Ukraine to counter Russia\u2019s attacks in cyberspace and strengthen the protection of its information systems and resources.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

    During the exchange visit to Washington, D.C., the program participants gained knowledge on:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Planning and creation of digital strategies in times when digital capability is not only about technology, but also about the institutional, organizational, legal and cultural leadership;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Data-driven political decision-making and development of open and personal data infrastructure;<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Creating a digital government that is able to integrate digital ethics, privacy, and cybersecurity into its activities; and,<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Trendwatching to stay on top of the latest updates in GovTech and implement them in your projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u201cOne of the priorities of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund is to support a new generation of digital leaders capable of developing innovative approaches and implementing advanced technologies in the public sector,\u201d<\/em> said Anton Vashchuk, Director of the UMAEF Innovation, Education and Entrepreneurship Program.<\/strong> \u201cCooperation with Georgetown University and participation in such training intensives opens up unique opportunities for Ukrainian specialists to grow professionally and share their experience internationally. This is not only training, but also an important step in strengthening the digital potential of our country.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      The intensive course was full of events and witnessed the emergence of new international partnerships. The program included a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova and a roundtable discussion with experts from the U.S. Center for Security and Advanced Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \u201cSupporting Ukraine in implementing digital transformations for almost 10 years, East Europe Foundation has always attached great importance to the training of public servants,\u201d<\/em> said Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation.<\/strong> \u201cWe need a real army of digital leaders at all levels to increase the pace of positive change and bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas faster. This training program is another step towards this goal.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

      At the final stage of the program in Kyiv, the participants will join a foresight on strategic forecasting in the digital era.<\/span><\/p>\n

      The CDTO Campus leadership program \u201cShaping the Digital Future\u201d partners with the Tech & Public Policy program at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, D.C., USA, supported and funded by Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund and USAID Cybersecurity Activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

      The CDTO Campus leadership program is implemented by East Europe Foundation (EEF). The program and CDTO Campus are supported by Visa Foundation, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the Digitality_Govtech Centre of Excellence under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
