Warsaw, 9 July 2024 \u2013 On the morning of July 8, Russia bombed the Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv that treats, among others, children with oncological diseases. In the case of this disease, the administration of drugs cannot be delayed even for a moment, because then the therapy becomes less effective. Responding to the pressing needs of small patients of the Ohmatdyt hospital, the Herosi Foundation has launched donation channels aimed at ensuring the continuity of necessary treatments. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The reports are devastating. All operating theatres and the diagnostics laboratories \u2013 crucial for both oncological and hematological treatments \u2013 have been destroyed. The diagnostics can be replaced by the private system but the costs of that are very high.<\/p>\n

Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital treats children with cancer from all over Ukraine as, currently, most pediatric oncology centers throughout the country are not operating. Therefore, it is of the absolute imperative to help rebuild the hospital system and help evacuate some patients outside the country. This is the only chance for children and their families.<\/p>\n

From the first day of the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the Herosi Foundation has become one of the main partners of the unique international SAFER Ukraine humanitarian action (https:\/\/global.stjude.org\/en-us\/featured\/safer-ukraine.html<\/a>). The aim of our activities is to ensure continuation of oncological treatment for all Ukrainian children with cancer. We are responsible for the coordination and logistics of the evacuation of these children and their families. From February 24, 2022 to this day, we have managed to help over 1,600 Ukrainian children with cancer, who are continuing their treatment all over the world (with a great majority in Europe). During March 2022 we were evacuating as many as 200 patients per week, thanks to a triage centre that we established near Kielce.<\/p>\n

About Herosi Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2009 the Herosi Foundation (https:\/\/www.herosi.eu\/en<\/a>) has been actively supporting children with Cancer from entire Poland \u2013 patients of the Department of Oncology and Surgical Oncology for Children and Youth at the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw (Institute of Mother and Child (imid.med.pl))<\/a>. The total value of aid provided by the Herosi Foundation exceeds PLN 3 million.<\/p>\n

Apart from extremely important mental support and visiting patients in the hospital, and fulfilling their smaller and larger dreams, Herosi Foundations\u2019 main goal is to raise funds to secure medical treatment, especially targeted drugs not refunded by the National Health Fund in Poland and improve treatment procedures for the patients through purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment. Since January 2024, Herosi Foundation is able to finance first 3 months of targeted drugs treatment for all qualified patients, irrespectively of financial abilities of their families.<\/p>\n
