The Swiss Federal Council continues to support digital transformation and e-governance in Ukraine. The Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program has received a new round of funding, in particular, to implement projects in the war-affected regions.<\/span><\/p>\n On Friday, June 7, the Swiss Federal Council approved funding of CHF 58.7 million for the Swiss-Ukrainian program \u201cElectronic Governance for Accountability and Participation\u201d (EGAP), which is implemented by East Europe Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00abAs EGAP has been successful in digitalising services provided by the state and promoting transparency in the Ukrainian administration, the Federal Council has decided that Switzerland will continue to support the project. Switzerland will announce its support in the areas of digitalisation and e-governance at the next Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), which will take place on 11 and 12 June 2024 in Berlin\u00bb, the Federal Council <\/span>website<\/span><\/a> says.<\/span><\/p>\n Over the next four years (2024-2028), funding will focus on projects in war-affected regions that are important for future recovery. The focus is on healthcare, education, and humanitarian demining.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00abEGAP has been working for almost 10 years to develop digital transformation in cooperation with government agencies\u00bb,<\/em> said Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation.<\/strong> \u00abDuring this time, we managed to implement 60 e-services and platforms to digitalize and simplify the lives of Ukrainian citizens. Since the outbreak of the full-scale war, our focus has been shifted to supporting the war-affected civilians through humanitarian aid to IDPs, demining, and civilian protection. This has been made possible thanks to the consistent support of Switzerland and other international partners over the years. I am grateful to the Swiss government for their leadership in digitalization of Ukraine\u00bb.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Since 2015, the EGAP Program, supported by the Swiss government, has been implementing e-services, e-governance and e-democracy tools to enable citizens to participate in political processes.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00abEGAP helps to minimize corruption risks and increase the transparency of public services through electronic services\u00bb,<\/em> says Olena Sayenko, EGAP Program Manager.<\/strong> \u00abOur projects have involved 497 local governments.
