Ukrainian science popularizers Yuliia Ivanchykova and Olha Maslova have become the hosts of \u201cScience: Women’s Voices\u201d<\/strong>, a podcast about the life and career of prominent female researchers. The show was created with the support of the STEM is FEM educational project, the TRUMAN communications company, and Speka.media. The first episodes of the podcast are already available via link<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Yuliia Ivanchykova<\/strong> is a zoologist and ocean researcher; Olha Maslova<\/strong> is a Ph.D. in biology and ambassador of the STEM is FEM educational project. In each episode of the show, the hosts discuss a famous women scientist with a female expert guest: what her private life was like, what obstacles she faced during her research, and what she left as a legacy. The heroines of the first season are women scientists in the fields of nuclear physics, programming, mathematics, neurophysiology, genetics, astro- and biophysics.<\/p>\n

“It’s important for us to talk about bright women in science, to show how enormous their contribution is. We try to make this podcast informative, motivating, and entertaining. Both Yuliia and I are confident that conversations with and about scientists can be of interest not only to people who are involved in their fields of activity. And if, after listening to our show, girls interested in science believe in themselves and continue to follow this difficult path, it will mean that we have achieved our goal,”<\/em> says Olha Maslova, one of the podcast’s hosts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Women have always been present in science but they have often been erased from history and their inventions have been attributed to men. In recent years, we’ve learned how many women researchers are behind the things we can hardly imagine our lives without: it was their work that led to the development of programming languages and WI-FI, the discovery of DNA and the cure for malaria. There are many outstanding women in science, and we need to talk about them,”<\/em> said Serhiy Tokarev, the initiator of STEM is FEM.<\/strong><\/p>\n
