Shell Ukraine has signed up for UN Women\u2019s global solidarity movement for gender equality – HeForShe. Shell is the first international energy company to declare its readiness to contribute to achieving gender equality and the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“Gender equality is integral to high social and economic standards. It is what marks out a progressive business. My personal commitment as a business leader to build a diverse and gender-balanced Shell Ukraine team depends on providing professional opportunities to my staff according to their capability and aspirations regardless of gender. In Shell Ukraine, women already hold 50% of senior positions. I am proud that Shell has joined the HeForShe initiative,\u201d<\/em> says Peter Kerekgyarto, General Director of Shell Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2021 Shell Ukraine signed he Women’s Empowerment Principles, initiated by the UN Global Compact and UN Women. Since 2020 the company has been a member of the UN Global Compact Network.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on UN analysis<\/a>, current estimates suggest that workplace and economic gender equality won\u2019t be achieved until 2095\u00a0in the world. We can\u2019t wait that long. That\u2019s why we are so pleased that Shell Ukraine has joined our network\u00a0for\u00a0gender equality\u00a0as a\u00a0HeForShe supporter. A non-discriminatory and inclusive work environment that promotes equal opportunities is a prerequisite for the success and sustainability of any organization. UN Women Ukraine stands ready to support private businesses that champion gender equality in the workplace, marketplace and in the community\u201d,<\/em> said Sabine Freizer Gunes, Representative of UN Women Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the same time, gender balance is maintained in all respects, each employee has equal opportunities in Shell. The company always strives to support women \u00a0in professional development and improvement of leadership skills.From 2022 onwards Shell Ukraine also launched long-term relationship-oriented mentoring program for its employees to help their professional development. Half of the 10 employees who have benefited so far are women.<\/p>\n
