The app is designed to enable a new level of secure, peer-to-peer communication between people in need and those ready to help them with everything from securing shelter and transportation to child care, pet care, and donations. YesHelp keeps both parties safe and helps them to overcome language barriers before interacting in the physical world.

Since February 2022, approximately 12,6 million people have been forced to flee Ukraine, making this the biggest displacement crisis since the second World War. Displaced individuals and families need local connections to integrate into new communities and to regain a sense of normalcy.

However, many barriers exist to starting life in a new place. Ukrainians face critical risks of human trafficking, violence, while also navigating language barriers and a high potential for fraud. The same is true for helpers, who have to trust people they have never met before. Both helpers and helpees also have to overcome language barriers to communicate with each other.

With this in mind, YesHelp created a mobile app so that anyone can provide and receive help, no matter where they are. The app is equipped with on-device ID validation by Regula, a global leader in authenticity verification, that is widely used by financial institutions and government agencies. YesHelp provides a safe and seamless environment where users can register in just a few minutes. After the app is installed, users select their role (helper or helpee), verify their identity by scanning a passport, a driver’s license, or another document, and finally, pass authenticity validation. All done, one can start using the app to search or offer help.

YesHelp keeps personal details private unless users choose to share them. With in-app messaging, helpers and helpees can get to know each other and ask questions before sharing contact information or setting up a meeting. To address language barriers, YesHelp uses AI-powered smart translation so that users can chat in real time and understand each other as if they speak the same language.

Considering that most Ukrainians who left their country because of the war are women, developers built the app based on real insights, fears, and needs. According to the company’s research, Ukrainian women tend to feel more comfortable and safe while communicating and receiving help from other women. This is why YesHelp users can also specify whether they want to offer or receive help from anyone, men or women.

Through the YesHelp application Ukrainian woman Svitlana, who was forced to leave her home in Kremenchuk, has already found local volunteers and help with accommodation in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada: “I am very grateful to the developers of the YesHelp app. Within days I found Susan, who comforted and sheltered me during a critical period in my life. YesHelp is what can really help all those people who do not have friends or family in other countries and need help adjusting to life in a new place”.

The YesHelp team is working on additional functionality such as home insurance for helpers offering shelter, flight assistance, discounts from local businesses, and the ability for Ukrainians to connect and help each other, building new communities wherever they are.

Please donate and join the YesHelp community to help those in need or to seek help using the YesHelp app.

Resources

Learn more about YesHelp at www.yeshelp.org

Download the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play

Follow YesHelp on social media:

2022 October 17th, Kitchener, Canada – The YesHelp app, developed by the team from the Canadian software company OneIQ Corp., is now available to iOS and Android users in 60+ countries.
