Being\u00a0an international company, BDO in Ukraine fully adheres to the culture of equality. Discrimination, in any form,\u00a0during\u00a0recruitment, remuneration or promotion, is unacceptable. We believe that the corporate culture of our time is a culture of equality and openness. A culture where the human being is the primary asset and the capital, not the resource.<\/p>\n

On the eve of the International Women’s Day, we will talk about the role of women in\u00a0BDO in Ukraine<\/a>, and we will provide statistics confirming the position of gender equality of our company.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Equality is not a women’s issue, it is a business issue. It is important to thrive for economies and societies, and this is possible only under equal opportunity<\/strong>.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong>According to\u00a0the HR department<\/a>, as of January 2021, the team of\u00a0BDO in Ukraine<\/strong>\u00a0includes\u00a064% women<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a036% men<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For comparison,\u00a0this ratio is 52% for female employees and 48% for male employees\u00a0in the entire BDO network.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"Senior\u00a0executive positions in BDO in Ukraine are\u00a0equally\u00a0distributed\u00a0\u2014 50: 50.<\/p>\n

The president of the company,\u00a0<\/strong>Alla<\/strong>\u00a0Savchenko, notes<\/strong>:\u00a0\u201cEquality is\u00a0the priority of our company in recruitment and working conditions for all our employees, equal payment, and equality in providing opportunities for development. Also,\u00a0a work-life balance<\/strong>\u00a0for each of our employees is a key part of BDO’s offer as an employer<\/em>!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"But the percentage of female managers is 5% higher than the number of male managers.<\/p>\n

\u201cVarious factors, such as, for example, the biological and individual socialization of a person in childhood, are the main reason for the division of labor between men and women on the principle of\u00a0\u201ccare and love to people\u00a0is\u00a0for women, and strength and leadership<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0for men\u201d.<\/strong>\u00a0In adult life, human roles that reflect the inter-gender division of labor become the basis for gender differences. Now gender stereotypes are changing quite quickly and this gives hope for equal social positions in the business sphere for men and women. In recent years, humanity has moved forward so much to eliminate this inequality and to achieve business equality. However, equality can be achieved only when the attitude towards both women and men changes radically and behavioral stereotypes are erased. In the meantime, 20% of the Ukrainian parliament is women.<\/em><\/p>\n

The profession of a financial expert is traditionally more female than male, and,\u00a0usually, men became leaders in it (the position of the chief accountant is male, and the position of his deputy is female). Today, these stereotypes are also being erased.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

These data confirm that\u00a0BDO in Ukraine<\/strong>\u00a0pays attention to gender equality issue. We are convinced that cooperation on equality\u00a0matter\u00a0should be one of the key tasks of any modern company.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The experience of BDO in Ukraine confirms the hypothesis that the innovative thinking of teams is several times higher in the companies that deal with the gender equality issue, than in businesses that do not pay attention to this issue. And indeed, often women show a more creative approach to solving problems. And together with the rationality and structured approach of the male part of the team, the result exceeds all expectations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But the data mentioned above suggests that the female part of the BDO team in Ukraine is not only creative, but also experienced professionals in their field. After all, the ACCA qualification and certificate are the most authoritative and prestigious in the world. We are proud of our specialists who demonstrate their high level of professionalism and deep knowledge in accounting, audit and finance\u00a0every day.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, BDO in Ukraine will continue to adhere to the principles of gender equality and the empowerment of women in the company. We are convinced that gender equality is not only one of the basic human rights, but it is also a necessary\u00a0aspect\u00a0for achieving peace, prosperity and sustainable development of the country and the world economy as a whole.\u00a0<\/p>\n
