On August 20, 2020 at the 6th video lesson on Transport, Shipping, Trade Web Course. Season 2, we touched upon the topic of disputes at the request of seafarers and shipowners. In particular, received legal advice how to act in case of delayed payment of salary, as well as talked about medical care, compensation, repatriation of seafarers and replacement of seafarers on ships in 2020.<\/p>\n

Usually the costs of medical care, temporary disability benefits, compensation for damage to health and burial benefits are the responsibility of the shipowner to the crew member. In turn, the liability of shipowners must be insured by the P&I club. The terms of payment of compensation in the above cases are determined primarily by the labour contract, which must be pre-approved by the P&I club. Moreover, most disputes are resolved with the participation of a P&I club correspondent, who knows the local conditions and has considerable experience in such matters.<\/p>\n
