{"id":771730,"date":"2019-09-10T17:04:17","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T14:04:17","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2019-09-10T17:06:21","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T14:06:21","slug":"vzhe-tsiyeyi-oseni-neprydatni-pestytsydy-mozhna-bude-vyvozyty-dlya-utylizatsiyi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/en\/vzhe-tsiyeyi-oseni-neprydatni-pestytsydy-mozhna-bude-vyvozyty-dlya-utylizatsiyi\/","title":{"rendered":"This fall safe pesticide disposal becomes real"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>For the first time in more than 5 years, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine has issued a written consent for the transboundary movement of obsolete pesticides for their proper disposal in the EU countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The European Business Association welcomes this decision, as business community has been waiting for it for more than 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>According to this document, the first\u00a0batch of\u00a01500\u00a0tons\u00a0of\u00a0obsolete\u00a0and forbidden pesticides will be exported and disposed of in an environmentally sound way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Today, more than 10,000\u00a0tons\u00a0of obsolete and forbidden pesticides are stored in Ukraine, most of which have been inherited since Soviet times in so-called &#8220;burial grounds&#8221;.\u00a0In addition,\u00a0Ukraine imports\u00a0more than 100,000\u00a0tons\u00a0of such\u00a0pesticides,\u00a0a small part of which is not used and\u00a0becomes obsolete.\u00a0Their disposal will be gradual.<\/p>\n\t<div class=\"blockquote-custom-big animate-block animate-block--before animate-block--to-right\">\n\n\t\t<div class=\"quote-header\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.eba.com.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Victor_Pogorilyi.jpg\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"name\">Viktor Pogorilyi<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"position\">Agrochemical Committee Senior Manager<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"blockquote-custom\">\n\t\t\t\tUkraine has no facilities for disposal of this type of waste in an environmentally sound manner. Accordingly, the only solution to the problem of waste disposal is their transboundary movement to the EU countries for environmentally sound destruction.\n\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The European Business Association has been addressing this issue for 5 years.\u00a0For now, the issue has moved from the deadlock, and already this fall we hope to begin the process of exporting unsuitable pesticides for their disposal.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, that during these 5 years several steps have been taken to resolve this issue in Ukraine. Firstly, the Basel Convention, which regulates the mechanism of the cross-border, was translated. Secondly, the Ukrainian legislation was amended &#8211; CMU Resolution N 1120 and the existing technical inconsistencies were eliminated.
