Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine published the Sustainability report for 2017 year<\/a>, which demonstrates company progress in achievement of the commitments in the field of environmental protection, satisfaction of consumer needs, social responsibility and corporate governance. The report was prepared in compliance with a new version of GRI Standards and became the 6th public non-financial report of the company.<\/p>\n

The company defined the material aspects of its activity and focused its efforts on priority areas for sustainable development such as reducing of sugar in drinks, minimizing the negative impact on the environment and package waste issue as well as the development of socially unprivileged youth.<\/p>\n

Reducing of sugar<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moving towards consumer preferences the company constantly works on expanding the product portfolio, offers smaller, more convenient packages and reduces the amount of added sugar in beverages. Thus, in 2017, the company launched production of sugar-free Coca-Cola Zero\u00ae, the sales volume of low-sugar and sugar-free products was 23.3% of the total sales volume.The company aims to reduce added sugar in sparkling soft drinks by 10% by 2020 year.<\/p>\n

Packaging and recycling<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company increases the use of recycled and reusable materials and implements the technologies of plastic bottles weight reduction. In 2017 the company managed to reduce amount of packaging materials (PET) by 16% compared to the base 2010 year. Collection, recovery and recycling are also key tasks for reducing our environmental impact.<\/p>\n

Youth development<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company implements the program for the development of socially unprivileged young people – Youth Empowered, and in 2017 it covered 14 boarding schools in 7 regions of Ukraine.The program supports graduates of boarding schools in career guidance and entering high schools. In general, the company aims to help 25,000 of young Ukrainians to get a better future by 2020.<\/p>\n
