At the present stage of the Ukraine\u2019s formation as a sovereign European country, the factor of establishing it as an active maritime state becomes of special importance. However, this positioning requires both the consideration of global trends in the world maritime trade and taking into account those trends that occur in the Black Sea-Azov region.<\/p>\n

Thus, on March 22nd, 2018 the first British-Ukrainian Marine Infrastructure Forum was held in Odessa. It was organized by Embassy of the United Kingdom in Ukraine jointly with the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The coordinator of the EBA Logistics Committee Yaryna Skorokhod<\/strong> became the moderator of the 1st<\/sup> Forum’s session. In his speech, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan<\/strong> told about the global challenges of the present and the nearest future and about the importance of implementing concessions in ports.\u00a0 The Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Kyiv Ms. Helen Fazey<\/strong> shared the UK’s innovative experience in port infrastructure development. The head the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority Raivis Veckagans<\/strong> highlighted the strategy of development of sea ports by 2038.<\/p>\n

The main themes for discussion within the Forum were engineering, design, construction, reconstruction and communication at sea ports, cargo transportation services, etc. The leaders of UK market AECOM, G4S, Telestack, Bentall Rowlands and others presented their global experience in the port projects implementing. The CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang, General Forum’s sponsor, presented the legal aspects of financing and investing in the infrastructure projects. The next day visits to the Brooklyn-Kyiv terminal in the Odesa Sea Port and TIS in Port Yuzhny were carried out.<\/p>\n

So, Ukraine has the opportunity to attract additional transit flows through its territory, subject to the implementation of certain measures for the further development and modernization of its own maritime infrastructure. Moreover, it will be able to enhance Ukraine\u2019s image as a maritime state and the competitiveness of the port industry. It will enable new investments to develop the port industry and innovate seaports through the use of advanced technologies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
