Annually 50 000 people in Ukraine die before the arrival of ambulance. The average time of arrival is 20 minutes, however, in many cases, a person needs help in the first 5-7 minutes. Only the right first aid provided by an eyewitness gives a chance to save a live. That is why the first aid provided by an eyewitness gives a chance to save a live. Thus, on June 22, 2017, in the framework of the EBA Odesa Lifehacks project, we gathered at a master class on first aid in office.<\/p>\n

Speaker was Fedir Serdyuk, Founder of FAST Company (participant of the EBA Unlimit Ukraine project), certified by the California Emergency Medical Service, conducted preparation on first-aid of the patrol police in 11 regions of the country. He paid special attention to the algorithm of behavior in emergency situations and means of own safety. He told about the rules of helping a person in everyday situations: loss of consciousness, convulsive assault, respiratory tract obstruction, and other. Speaker also provided useful tips for improving message effectiveness when calling the emergency.<\/p>\n

After that together with instructor Vladyslav Vasylishyn, attendees were able to apply the acquired knowledge in practice. In particular, to check the victim\u2019s signs of life, to carry out a complex of actions for his safety before arrival of ambulance, to identify, distinguish and help with apoplectic attack, and also to perform the Heimlich maneuver (when a person is choking). Guests also asked questions concerning the rules of conduct in other situations.
