EBA discusses problematic customs clearance issues with the Ministry of Economy and the State Customs Service

26/ 01/ 2026
On 23 January, the European Business Association held a joint online meeting of its Customs Committee and Household Electrical Appliances Committee with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the State Customs Service of Ukraine. During the meeting, participants discussed the application of certain provisions of technical regulations in the course of customs clearance of goods. In particular, member companies of the EBA drew attention to systemic cases where customs authorities require declarations of conformity for individual components or spare parts that form part of finished products or are imported for servicing or warranty purposes and therefore do not have separate declarations of conformity with technical regulation requirements. Business representatives emphasised that such practices create legal uncertainty, complicate customs procedures, and may lead to delays in the supply of goods. This issue also concerns, in particular, cables used for emergency repair works. The EBA thanks the representatives of the state authorities for their participation in the meeting and expresses hope for continued cooperation aimed at resolving problematic issues related to the customs clearance of goods.
