EBA discussed freight tariff indexation with the Ministry for Development and Ukrzaliznytsia

On 8 August, member companies of the European Business Association met with Oleksii Balesta, Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, and Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. Participants discussed the dynamics of rail freight transport, the increase in expenses, the carrier’s efforts to optimise costs, and the need to index freight tariffs. At the same time, the business community stressed the importance of including compensation for Ukrzaliznytsia’s passenger transport costs in next year’s state budget. The meeting also addressed the impact of tariff indexation on businesses, particularly in frontline regions, and the need to introduce support mechanisms for such companies to mitigate the effects of indexation. The EBA’s business community is grateful to the teams of the Ministry for Development and Ukrzaliznytsia for their dialogue with the market and efforts to ensure uninterrupted logistics under extremely challenging conditions, as well as for supporting business export and economic activity.
