EBA Logistics Committee members discussed the initiative to raise tariffs on container transport

Last week, a meeting of the EBA Logistics Committee’s Working Group on railway infrastructure development took place. During the meeting, participants discussed the initiative by Ukrzaliznytsia to increase the cost of transporting cargo in containers weighing more than 26 tonnes (gross), in order to align the tariffs for transporting grain cargo in containers and in specialised rolling stock (grain hopper wagons). Member companies of the Logistics Committee conducted a detailed analysis of this initiative and concluded that such an increase in tariffs is currently neither appropriate nor justified. The Committee’s experts are awaiting the draft text of the proposed changes, which has already been prepared by Ukrzaliznytsia and sent to the Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories for approval, in order to provide a timely response and submit their suggestions. The business community is counting on constructive dialogue!
