The Government expands grant programme for frontline regions

15/ 04/ 2025
The European Business Association welcomes the decision of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine to expand the “Own Business” grant programme to support businesses in frontline regions. The government has increased the maximum grant amount to UAH 500,000 for entrepreneurs who are running or planning to start a business in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. According to the EBA’s experts, businesses in frontline territories require special attention and support. Russia’s full-scale military invasion has caused extensive destruction, as well as economic, social, and environmental damage in these regions, leading to a significant outflow of the population. The continued operation of businesses is one of the key prerequisites for the recovery and return of people to these areas. Recently, members of the EBA Committee on Ukraine’s Recovery, together with the regional offices of the European Business Association in Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Odesa, developed a set of Proposals on Supporting Business in Frontline Regions. Among other things, this document includes the recommendation to expand grant programmes for enterprises in these regions. The EBA’s proposals are addressed to central and local authorities, donors, international organisations, and financial institutions. They include recommendations on how to support companies, stabilise the business environment, and create conditions for recovery. These recommendations relate to changes in tax policy, financing and lending to the regions, the provision of logistical and infrastructure support, an increase in the quota for reserving military service employees, and more. The EBA welcomes the Government’s decision to expand support for businesses in frontline areas and hopes for the gradual implementation of its other proposals.
