Cold weather is no reason to give up fresh air

19/ 11/ 2025
When its cold outside and the evenings are getting longer, we want to surround ourselves with warmth and comfort. During this period, we have a special desire to spend more time at home and enjoy preparing for the holidays. At such moments, it is especially important to feel comfortable and breathe deeply. So we are increasingly thinking about how to ventilate the room without losing precious heat. Opening a window is not the best option, as it leads to irreversible heat loss. So, in order to enjoy fresh air even on the coldest days, it is worth considering purchasing PRANA recuperators equipped with special functions. How the PRANA recuperator works The PRANA recuperator is a device designed to ensure effective air exchange in a room. Its key feature is that it retains the heat of the air removed from the room and transfers it to the fresh air coming in from outside. Importantly, the air flows do not mix, so you get clean and fresh air. PRANA systems use a German copper heat exchanger, which allows up to 98% of heat to be retained. In conditions of severe winter frosts, there is a risk of the heat exchanger and condensate drainage paths freezing. To ensure efficient and safe operation at low temperatures, we have developed the “Mini-heating” and “Winter mode” functions. “Mini-heating” The main purpose of this function is to maintain a comfortable temperature of the air entering the room from outside. “Mini-heating” provides additional heating of the supply air flow and protects the heat exchanger from freezing. This is especially useful in cool weather when the system is operating at low speeds (for example, in “Night” mode). With this option, the temperature of the supplied air can be increased by 3–5 °C, maintaining a feeling of warmth and comfort. “Winter mode” At the same time, “Winter mode” is critical for the safety and durability of the recuperator. This is the main function that ensures stable operation of the device during the cold season. Its main task is to prevent the formation of ice inside the system, which can significantly damage it or reduce its efficiency. In addition, “Winter Mode” continues to operate for another 30 minutes after the device is turned off, performing a drying phase. This allows you to remove moisture residues and prevent ice formation. Important: the use of “Winter mode” together with the “Mini-heating” function is mandatory when the outside temperature is below +4°C. In modern PRANA models, the “Mini-heating” and “Winter mode” functions are activated automatically, based on the readings of temperature sensors. This is convenient, safe, and does not require any additional settings by the user. Tips from PRANA: Do not forget about scheduled maintenance: cleaning the heat exchanger, checking the condition of the filters. Monitor the humidity level in the room: during the winter, the air humidity level often decreases. The optimal level is 40-60%. Do not block the device with furniture, curtains, or other obstacles. Free air circulation is the key to system efficiency. Comfort starts with the quality of the air we breathe! PRANA technologies are designed to create a healthy microclimate so that you can enjoy warmth and freshness at any time of the year. So, in order to enjoy fresh air even on the coldest days, it is worth considering purchasing PRANA recuperators equipped with special functions.

How the PRANA recuperator works

The PRANA recuperator is a device designed to ensure effective air exchange in a room.

“Mini-heating”

The main purpose of this function is to maintain a comfortable temperature of the air entering the room from outside.

“Winter mode”

At the same time, “Winter mode” is critical for the safety and durability of the recuperator.

Tips from PRANA:

  • Do not forget about scheduled maintenance: cleaning the heat exchanger, checking the condition of the filters.
  • Monitor the humidity level in the room: during the winter, the air humidity level often decreases. The optimal level is 40-60%.
  • Do not block the device with furniture, curtains, or other obstacles. Free air circulation is the key to system efficiency.

Comfort starts with the quality of the air we breathe! PRANA technologies are designed to create a healthy microclimate so that you can enjoy warmth and freshness at any time of the year.
