International Day of Charity: How the “Children of Heroes” CF Helps Children of War Grow and Dream

08/ 09/ 2025
Can a single food package or a warm sweater restore a sense of security to a child who has lost a parent due to the war? Of course not. True support is walking alongside them, step by step, for as long as it takes for peace, care, and hope to reappear in their hearts. On November 5, International Day of Charity, the Children of Heroes Charity Fund reminded us that aid isnt limited to one-time gifts or short-term campaigns. Its about being a constant presence for children who have lost their most cherished loved ones. Its thanks to people who contribute to the Fund that it can support children every day—with their education, treatment, psychological recovery, and in making their small and big dreams come true. We quickly realized that children who have lost relatives need ongoing support, not one-time help. They grow, and their needs change—from basic necessities to education or career choices. Our job is to be there for them at every stage of this journey, says Tetiana Novytska, CEO of the Fund. In three and a half years, the Fund has supported over 14,000 children and provided more than $17 million in aid. But behind every number isnt a statistic—its a living story. These are thousands of children for whom benefactors are restoring faith in the future. Every day, 15 to 20 new children join the Fund, which is why its work cannot stop. An important area of focus has been psychological camps and comprehensive rehabilitation. Often, one request hides a whole range of needs: medical, emotional, and educational. That’s why the Fund works to ensure a child feels supported from all sides. Already, 420 beneficiaries have grown with the CF and become its first graduates. Their stories prove that even after the greatest losses, its possible to learn how to dream again. Helping the children of Heroes is an investment in their future and in the future of Ukraine. We invite you to read the full article at the link and learn how your support helps children learn to dream again every day.
