EY launches research to support women entrepreneurs in Ukraine

EY is initiating a study aimed at exploring the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in Ukraine. This initiative is part of the Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality and the Equality of Opportunity Strategy, implemented by a globally renowned international financial organization to expand economic opportunities for all and ensure equality between men and women. Amid russia’s aggression in Ukraine, women entrepreneurs face numerous difficulties that impact their businesses and economic activity. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, women account for about 30% of all entrepreneurs in the country, highlighting their still insufficient representation in the business environment. Therefore, EY aims to understand the specific financial and non-financial needs of women entrepreneurs to develop effective tools and support programs that will help them adapt to the new conditions. The purpose of the research is to assess the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) market with a focus on women entrepreneurs and to evaluate the role of financial institutions in Ukraine in providing opportunities for MSME development among women. This will make it possible to develop recommendations for the advancement of financial and non-financial services that better meet the needs of women entrepreneurs in today’s socio-economic context.
